Hello everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to brag about our Sage CRM development team. I have been pulling my hair out trying to extract historical sales data from our system so that I can determine the efficiency of various marketing efforts. I needed to be able to see what customers were acquired using each individual marketing stratagem, and then determine what the return on investment was. Unfortunately, because I'm better known for my wit than for my foresight, I have never kept track of the lifetime revenue of each individual client. When our new COO asked me for that information, I thought I was going to have to go to each individual client record and pull their revenue totals and manually input them into the report.
Stop laughing, accountants. If I had useful skills I'd be using them, that's how I ended up in sales.
Anyway, I walked over to the dev office (it's a minefield, there's empty pizza boxes everywhere over there) and asked if they could write up a report for me that sorted clients by a handful of fields, and then pulled in the lifetime receipts for that client. I had not been back at my desk for three minutes when I got the email that the report was completed.
Now, this report is going to save me hours and hours of effort that I can direct towards more useful things (like writing blog posts), and took our dev team less than 10 minutes to write. So let me ask you, how many hours can we save you?
