The Software Combines the Strengths of Two “Best In Class” Solutions

Sage has merged their best-in-class financial management solution with new, next generation  construction software based on Sage 300 CRE (formally Timberline). In an announcement earlier this year, the company announced the release of Sage Intacct Construction.

The new native cloud solution merges the top-rated financial suite with a construction industry  favorite, Sage 300 CRE. The combination of strengths of Sage Intacct and Sage 300 CRE have positioned Sage Construction as a leader in the construction software industry.

Sage launched the project at ConExpo, which is the largest construction show in North  America. The product was well-received by industry types. One of the most exciting announcements was an upcoming integration with Procore later this year, along with developments for robust change-management, as well as enhancements in the areas of billings and payables.

What Do People Like Most About Sage Construction?

Attendees at the Construction conference noted some of their favorite features of the new software, which included:

  • Work from Anywhere:  Because Sage Intacct Construction is a state-of the-art cloud solution, mobility has been designed into the product. The ability for project managers and workers in the field to perform common tasks like time management, purchase order and subcontract management from the field was exciting. Because of the advanced design of the software, these tasks could all be performed on a tablet, laptop, or even a phone in the field.

  • Everything is consolidated:  Sage Intacct has a unique attribute, called "dimensions," which allow the current chart of accounts to be condensed and more organized. Dimensions allow construction companies to tag transactions and segregate their data to the level they desire. The design of the software allows tasks like intercompany transactions to allocate across multiple entities, all with a single entry. In addition, users can allocate costs across multiple entities with the click of a button. Allocations like payroll, equipment, and even man-hours can be broadcast from the "Top-Level" organization to the multi-entities associated with the entry.

  • Multi-Dimensional Reporting:  With Sage Intacct’s “Dimensions” feature tied to their new Construction Module, users can easily create reports and eliminate the need to export and manipulate data in Excel. Finance users can create beautiful, informative dashboards, and company data is always live, in “real time”. Construction users will love the easy report creation tools, and commonly used reports like: Work-in-Process, Cost-to-Complete, Job and Committed Costs and Job Profitability, can easily be set up.

  • Project Estimates and Assets/Inventory Control:  CFM’s can now easily track and manage costs and productivity throughout the life cycle of a job. The functionality includes solutions for estimates and job controls. In addition, the software will easily add inventory through purchasing, and you can see your quantity on-hand inventory, and even keep track of your assets and allocate those costs to the projects as required

  • Security and Software Administration:  Because Sage Construction is cloud based, security is handled for subscribers, along with upgrades, backups of their data, and product enhancements. In addition, Intacct has a role-based user authorization system that allows administrators to assign user abilities in a very granular way. Complex approval chains can be set up for various transaction types, so companies can rest assured that all security and approval requirements will be met. Sage Intacct also features a strong workflow engine which allows companies to set up their processes exactly as they see fit.

Future Enhancements for Sage Intacct Construction

Representatives for Sage noted that Sage Construction will roll out additional  functionality to the product throughout 2020. The company is partnering with payroll partners in order to provide a “richer construction-oriented payroll solution”. The company envisions Sage Intacct Construction as the first choice for construction companies of all size, especially once the final build out has taken place.
Sage has rolled out the solution in the United States and Canada and has announced  upcoming launches in Australia and the UK.

Why Is Sage Intacct Construction Good for Construction Companies?

Because Sage Construction began with Sage 300 CRE, the new software is the  next natural step for construction companies that need to modernize and take advantage of the cloud. Construction companies are finally becoming cloud-friendly and realizing the flexibility and power of these solutions to provide remote access anywhere. Owners of these businesses are becoming more tech-savvy and interested in seeing real-time data. This allows them to become more profitable because they are more efficient, and better informed.

The upgrade path for users of Sage 300 CRE is a positive development for the  construction industry. Because Sage Intacct Construction is built on a tried-and-true solution in Sage 300 CRE, users of the software will find real-time financial and operational data useful. Streamlining their construction company will allow them to make more money, free up time, and propel them into the next phase of their

operations.
